U.S. Futsal Player Representative Sean
Bowers was a former standout defender
with the Kansas City Wizards of Major League
Soccer. Sean Bowers is in his second season
assisting the CBU men's and women's soccer
teams in 2004.
Bowers played for the Wizards
from 1996-99 and earned the team's Defender
of the Year award twice. He also served as
team captain for the 1999 season. Still an
active player, Bowers currently is a member
of the San Diego Sockers of the Major Indoor
Soccer League. He is the only person in NPSL/MISL
history to achieve at least 800 blocks and
800 points. He was a 2002 MISL All-Star and
the league's Defender of the Year with the
Baltimore Blast. During 2002-03, he also
served as the team's interim head coach.
Bowers has also been a member of the U.S.
National Futsal Team since 1995, earning 30
international caps. He has been the team
captain since 1998. The team won the 2004
CONCACAF gold medal and will play in the
2004 World Cup in Taiwan in November. He
also saw time with the Detroit Rockers of
the National Professional Soccer League from
1991-95 and 2000-01. In 1991, he was the
league's Rookie of the Year as the Rockers
won the NPSL championship. He was a
four-time All-Star and two-time Defender of
the Year. In addition to his coaching stint
with the Baltimore Blast, Bowers' resume
includes extensive coaching experience. He
was an assistant coach for the Detroit
Rockers of the NPSL in 2000-01. He was a
head coach and assistant coach of the
Michigan Hawks, an Under-23 women's select
team that won the 2001 U.S. Open Cup. In
1999, he was an assistant coach for William
Jewell College, an NAIA school in Liberty,
Mo. A native of San Diego, Bowers graduated
from Quincy (Ill.) College in 1991 with a
bachelor's degree in political science. He
is currently working on a master's degree in
organizational management through the
University of Phoenix. He is also trying to
earn an Advanced National Coaching Diploma.
He and his wife, Maria, have three children:
Aydan (7), Isabella (5) and Gracie (3). |

Ellie Singer, Vice-President was
elected Vice-President of United States
Futsal in 2005. Her knowledge of youth
sports is long and diverse having served in
many positions before being elected
President of Minnesota Youth Soccer and also
serving as Vice-Chairperson of the U.S.
Youth Soccer Association for two years. She
brings her great acumen to United States
Futsal. |
